i wish i had maintained some sort of cohesive journal of all the movies i've seen since the 8th grade. around that time i think my mind was opened to "good" film-making when i first saw rushmore. it had a deep influence on me as a young adult. i saw this film before i ever read catcher in the rye or any stupid kurt vonnegut book (which are by no means stupid). it's hard nowadays to find something of that caliber in dialogue, style, and character to rock my world. ameliƩ, seven samurai, and all about my mother are worth the time of any proud human being. i always feel bad when i pay for a movie that is in a different league of appreciation, so i don't. audrey tautou is the only actress that i'll admit to absolutely adoring not solely on the basis of sexiness. spirited away is the only film i'm proud to have payed a ticket for. as you can tell i haven't been to the movie theatres much in my life, because it's too expensive for this sensible middle-income family, and when i do go it's because something looks "hella dope" in a preview or advertisement to my friends of whom i am a slave to. i'm very much excited about tarantino's upcoming kill bill because it looked "hella dope" in the preview i saw. i don't know much about acting, but i think robert deniro and jack nicholson have the right idea. edward norton, johnny depp, and benicio del toro are my favorite actors in terms of style. bruce lee needs to re-enter my life. o' brother where art thou was the first movie where i noticed color saturation. hollywood sucks but foreign and indie doesn't always mean better, unless you enjoyed stranger than paradise, you crazy fuck.
